Mobile Food Pantry

Serving Those In Need

Through our partnership with Food Bank of the Rockies and the support of church and community volunteers, the LPC Mobile Food Pantry provides food and supplies to individuals and families who are in need in Commerce City and nearby areas. Through our actions we strive to help people encounter the love of God. We welcome people of all faiths (and none) to volunteer!

When?

Mobile food pantry is held the 1st & 3rd Fridays of every month.

Volunteering

Volunteers should be prepared to agree to ethical treatment of the public as defined by
Food Bank of the Rockies. Volunteer tasks include:

Site Set Up

Unload and erect tents, tables and chairs. Help arrange distribution area and unload food from boxes. Requires some lifting.

Food Distribution

Some volunteers hand out food on the distribution line while others assist clients by pulling carts loaded with food to their cars. This job involves direct interaction with the public.

Client Intake

Registration of clients via computer data input. This role requires a session of specialized training.

Tear Down

Packing up mobile food pantry equipment, breaking down and disposal of boxes and the disposal of trash.

What to Wear

Volunteers should wear and/or bring clothing suited for the fast-changing Colorado weather. Closed toed shoes are required. Work gloves are recommended for some tasks.

When to Arrive

Volunteers should arrive on-site at 8:00 am. Mobile food pantry closing is open-ended, but we aim for 11:00 am. We are there rain, snow or shine. Exceptions only for holidays or if roads are impassable.

Location

Mobile food pantry is found in Parking Lot H of Dick's Sporting Goods Park. This lot is easily accessed from the intersection of Quebec and 60th Ave. Parking for volunteers is available on-site.
