What Does God Say About Stewarding Our Finances?
Today, we are excited to share insights from Financial Peace University, coordinated through Landing Place Church. Financial stewardship is a vital aspect of our faith, and through FPU, we learn to manage our resources wisely, honoring God in the process.
Biblical Foundation
The Bible offers profound wisdom on financial stewardship. Proverbs 21:20 says, “The wise store up choice food and olive oil, but fools gulp theirs down.” This verse teaches us the importance of saving and planning for the future. Additionally, 1 Timothy 6:10 warns, “For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil.” This reminds us to prioritize our faith and values over material wealth. Malachi 3:10 states, “Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this, says the Lord Almighty, and see if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour out a blessing so great that you will not be able to contain it.” This is the only time God explicitly says, “Test me.
Principles of Financial Peace University
Financial Peace University emphasizes practical steps to achieve financial stability. One of the key principles is creating a budget which helps us track our income and expenses within the context of our unique situation. Another principle is saving for emergencies, ensuring we are prepared for unexpected events. Many members of Landing Place Church have experienced life-changing transformations through FPU, finding peace and freedom in their finances. The process is eye opening and when it is followed, we can attest that it works! Living like no one else, so that you can live and give like no one else is the sacrifice required, but so worth it.
Application of Biblical Principles
Applying biblical principles to our finances involves intentional decision-making. For instance, practicing generosity by tithing and giving to those in need reflects our trust in God’s provision. Additionally, avoiding debt and living within our means honors the wisdom found in Proverbs 22:7, “The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is slave to the lender.”
Financial stewardship is a journey that requires faith, wisdom, and discipline. By following biblical principles and the teachings of Financial Peace University, we can achieve financial peace and honor God with our resources. We invite you to join us at either the Spring or Fall Course at Landing Place Church for FPU and embark on this transformative journey together.
